The ones I saw looked a little different, so maybe they weren't real first eds. ABAA might become my new favorite site, though...So many books, so little money! Thanks for reading and for adding your library wisdom to this post :) Alina Sayrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11305597686935121239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317019853318228654.post-8726854926292921542013-07-26T13:12:23.557-07:002013-07-26T13:12:23.557-07:00If it makes you feel any better about having to pa...If it makes you feel any better about having to pass it up, they probably weren't true firsts - possibly the first boxed edition, but I would expect those to go for more - the true first editions go for tens of thousands of dollars for a set. Run a quick search at abaa.org (the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of American) and you'll see what I mean. But, if it looked like what's at this page http://www.tolkienbooks.net/php/1st-boxed-lr.php I suppose it could have been the first boxed set! I can't find a going price for it.<br /><br />Anyway, you're lucky your mom will go book shopping with you - my dad will, but not my mom.<br /><br />Great post as always - I don't often comment, but I read!cbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16126041014504582889noreply@blogger.com
